Bridal Shower

What a busy weekend! I am going to break this post into two parts, so here is part one. I drove down to Santa Barbara on Friday and met up with a friend in Montecito for breakfast. We ate at Jeannine'. If you haven't a chance to eat there it is a must. Tiny, tiny little space with seating inside and out. Delicious and charming. Then, I drove into Santa Barbara and met Devon at the seamstress to have her dress fitted. I haven't seen her dress and of course I cried my eyes out. It is so beautiful! I didn't post a picture just in case her fiance, Tim, reads my blog. From there, we went to Nordstroms to find shoes for me. Why is it that my feet used to love wearing heels when I was in my 30's and 40's but now completely rebels against anything higher than an inch. Did find a fabulous pair finally. Then off to where Devon is staying for the next two weeks. One of my vendors of my show, Kathy Hernandez, lives in Montecito and has a little cottage on her property. She offered it to Devon for a couple of weeks. It is DARLING! Devon has her own little backyard with the bunnies included.

I rested and then went to dinner with Kathy and David at a little Italian restaurant in Carpenteria called Giannfranco's Trattoria. It is a small family owned restaurant that was delicious.

Next day, was Devon's first bridal shower. She was beyond excited!

I asked her why she was so excited. Her response to me, "Mom, I am excited to have all the people I love all together in one place." One of the things that Devon did while opening her gifts, was share a little story of how that person touched her life. What was so neat was that the age of the women in Devon's life ranged from 22 to 60 years of age. It was a wonderful insight of that person and Devon's relationship with them.

I balled so much during that shower to hear all the wonderful stories of how all these women impacted her life and she theirs. Priceless!!! The shower ended and off I went back home to where I repacked and headed up to Carmel. More to follow!
