Velvet and Linen

When I discovered the blog world a couple of years ago, I came across the blog called Velvet and Linen. Brooke who has this wonderful design blog not only writes about her store and the design work she and her husband are working on but also shares an insight of her family. I must admit that I was intrigued by this new blog world and started checking back weekly on what was going on. Eventually, I was brave enough to leave a comment on Brooke's blog. To my delight, Brooke wrote back. A new friend! Brooke and I would chat through emails and discovered we were kindred spirits. Brooke is a talented designer and with her architect husband, Steve, they are quite the team. Brooke loves the hunt of the old and mixing it with her design concept. So...of course, this keeps me coming back to read her blog.

One morning I was reading her blog and was enjoying how she had redone her store and to my surprise, I noticed there was a lamp made from one of my friends, Jenny, from JunkGirls.

Jenny is an amazing artist that creates wonderful art pieces and home decor from recycled items she finds. I love the industrial feel of how Jenny mixes metal and wood and then adds her personal touch...a quote. Be sure to look for Jenny at my October show.

  1. I'm so glad you sent me that first email Judy!
You have been such a wonderful friend and have introduced me to so many creative people. Thank you so much for this lovely post. It was a pleasure meeting the Junk Girls in person and an honor to have their pieces in our store!

  2. I love that light fixture at the end of the post. Brooke is a generous person who takes the time to respond to ones questions. I noticed that about her. Not only is she very talented in her designerness she has a great family life and takes pride in that! So much to be admired, for sure. I am following you now and look forward to more of what you have to say and do!

  3. I'll have to check Brooke's blog out. I believe her blog/twitter acct was a suggested follow to me the other day. Will look it up, thanks for the recommendation. Happy night!
