Another one leaving the nest

Kauai Trip June 2009 134

My son, Ryan, says to me the other day "Mom, you don't have to buy me cereal anymore." I looked up from the grocery list I was writing with a perplexed look and said "Why?" "I'm hardly ever here to eat anymore." I wanted to cry. My last little bird is preparing me that he will be leaving the nest soon. I have a pantry full of cereal because I know that he will always at least eat cereal here. He looks so grown up in this picture. I guess I still think of him when he was around seven years old and stood in front me in his classroom. It was Mother's Day party at school and each of the children stood in front of their mothers and sang "I will love you forever". Remember that book? It makes me cry right now thinking of it. I guess I still have that mental picture in my mind of Ryan at that age and look at him now. But then he does something like this...

He is still my little boy.
